Vermont Vision Specialists

Find Vermont Vision specialist, children misdiagnosed with ADHD could have vision difficulties. A local Optometrist or Vision Therapy may be needed.

Optometrist: a primary eye care provider who diagnoses, manages, and treats disorders of the visual system and eye diseases.

The optometrist is a health care professional trained and state-licensed to provide primary eye care services. These services include comprehensive eye health and vision examinations; diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and vision disorders; the detection of general health problems; the performing of certain surgical procedures; and the counseling of patients regarding their surgical alternatives and vision needs as related to their occupations, avocations and lifestyles. The optometrist has completed pre-professional undergraduate education in a college or university and four years of professional education at a college of optometry, leading to the doctor of optometry (O.D.) degree. Some optometrists complete a residency.

Vision Therapy
(Also known as vision training, visual therapy, visual training): therapy involving procedures (eye exercises) which are aimed at improving visual skills such as eye teaming, binocular coordination and depth perception, focusing, acuity (clarity of sight), and "hand-eye" or "vision-body" coordination. Vision therapy can involve a variety of procedures to correct neurophysiological or neurosensory visual dysfunctions. Practiced by optometrists, ophthalmologists and vision educators.

Some Children suffer from Convergence Insufficiency
Definition: Convergence insufficiency occurs when an individual's eyes fail to work together adequately enough to maintain proper focus as an object moves closer. This inability to maintain focus can be an underlying cause of eye strain and eye fatigue. Symptoms also can include blurry vision and headaches.
